The history of Hugh Hefner starts back on April 9, 1926, when he was born in Chicago Illinois. He was the elder son of Grace and Glenn Hefner. Hefner has also served in the US army for two years. He went to Chicago Art Institute, and later joined Urbana-Champaign where he majored in Psychology. Afterward, Hefner went back to school for more studies on sociology. He received his bachelor degree in 1949 and the same year he married Mildred Williams. However, he engaged in other three marriages in his life.


Work History
In the early 1950s, Hefner secured a job with Esquire magazine. He later decides to quit from the publication, when denied a $5 raise in his salary. Hefner is the man behind transforming the adult entertainment industry with the edition of the Playboy magazine. To launch the magazine, he raised $85, 000 from investors, and $2000 from his family. The trademark Playboy was suggested to him by a colleague at college. And this was the start of the revolution of sexual life for many of the adults in the US and beyond. His first work feature Marilyn Monroe back in 1953 and his Playboy Company expanded into a multimillion-dollar business. With him operating such a huge company, in his 1970’s he was able to set himself a Playboy Mansion. The mansion locates in the west of California, and by this time, he was the remaining chief editor of the magazine by this time. He also started The Girl Next Door, a TV series a favorite play many viewers.


Awards
The history of Hugh Hefner incorporates numerous awards for his great works. Hefner induction into the Hall of Fame of the American Society of Magazine editors is one of his greatest achievements. He also received the “Henry Johnson Fisher Award.”


His Death
On September 27, 2017, Hefner died at his home the Playboy Manson. His grave locates at Mausoleum drawer next to Marilyn Monroe which is in Westwood Memorial. He was 91 years at the time of his death. We remember him for his great works in Playboy magazine and his prestigious lifestyle at his Mansion.
